Urinary tract infection can pose problems for the kidney if not treated immediately. It can cause a person to urinate frequently six or seven more time in one hour. Urinating can be very painful because there is very little urine coming out. This can also cause irritation from the person suffering from it because they cannot sit still and perform their daily tasks without being bothered by their urge to urinate.

Bacteria can cause urinary tract infection. The urine can contain salts and waste products. When bacteria get into the bladder or kidney it can result to UTI.

One type is bacteria that infect the urethra. It can cause urethritis. Another is a bacterium that can cause cystitis and a more serious one called pyelonephritis that can affect the kidney. This can cause a person to suffer from back pain and vomiting accompanied by high fever. Urinary tract infections can be treated by antibiotics and by drinking a lot of fresh water every day.

Who are more prone to have urinary tract infection?

Bacteria like e. coli can be found in the digestive track and around the rectal and vaginal area. Girls are more likely to have urinary tract infection since they have shorter urethras. UTI can also happen during sexual intercourse when the bacteria in the vagina or rectum area reach the urethra. The use of spermicides and condoms can also increase the risk of getting UTI.

The symptoms of urinary tract infection include pain and tenderness in the lower abdomen. Foul smelling color discharge even without menstruation, pain during penetration, chills and fever, diarrhea, back ache, frequent urination, periodic vomiting and pain during urination. Serious infection can cause blood during urination. Immediately consult the doctor when this occurs to prevent further complications.
